Vita di Pi ha ricevuto 11 nomination, FILM, SCENEGGIATURA e REGIA su tutte.
Delusione per Les Misérables il musical si deve accontentare di 8 nomination a pari merito con Silver Linings Playbook ma perde quella importantissima del regista Tom Hooper.
007 Skyfall ottiene 5 nomination da quelle scontate per la canzone di Adele e la fotografia si aggiungono quelle per il sonoro, niente di fatto per i due non protagonisti Javier Bardem e Judi Dench.
Quentin Tarantino ancora ignorato per la regia di DJANGO che ottiene solo 5 candidature oltre al film e sceneggiatura (di Tarantino) c'è quella per l'attore non protagonista Christoph Waltz che viene favorito a Leonardo Di Caprio !!!
Ignorata la regia di Kathryn Bigelow (già oscar per Hurt Looker) per Zero Dark Thirty il film sulla cattura di Bin Laden ottiene solo 5 candidature, FILM e ATTRICE le più importanti.
Dimenticato tra i film stranieri il blockbuster mondiale francese Quasi Amici sarà AMOUR di Aneke il favorito, in corsa anche nella categoria Miglior Film e per la Miglior Attrice Emmanuelle Riva.
Ben Affleck ignorato per la regia di Argo che ottiene 7 candidature, FILM, SCENEGGIATURE e il non protagonista le più prestigiose.
The Master ignorato come film e regia (niente da fare per Paul Thomas Anderson) viene premiato con 3 nomination per i suoi interpreti da Joaquin Phoenix (parteciperà mai alla consegna degli Oscar ???) a Philip Seymour Hoffman e Amy Adams.
Nessuna segnalazione - nemmeno nelle categorie tecniche, sonoro ed effetti sonori - per Il Cavaliere Oscuro - il Ritorno, tra i blockbuster estivi si salvano solo The Avengers e Prometheus con gli effetti speciali visivi.
Lo Hobbit - un Viaggio Inaspettato solo 3 nomination tecniche: trucco, effetti visivi e scenografie.
Tra i film animati grande escluso è Le 5 Leggende della DreamWorks, e se vincesse Tim Burton con Frankenweenie ?
Esclusa la Maggie Smith di Marigold Hotel e per Moonrise Kingdom solo un riconoscimento alla sceneggiatura di Wes Anderson.
