James Cameron e 20Th Century Fox hanno annunciato oggi la realizzazione di tre sequel per ‪Avatar‬ (2009) che saranno realizzati contemporaneamente con inizio riprese nel 2014 e release previste con cadenza annuale, Dicembre 2016 - Dicembre 2017 e infine Dicembre 2018.

'Avatar' è il più grande incasso cinematografico di tutti i tempi con un'incasso worldwide di $2,782,275,172, è anche il bluray più venduto in assoluto, la pellicola ha incassato in italia 66,8 milioni di euro (seconda solo a ‪'Titanic'‬ che riprese la testa della classifica con l'edizione 3D ), il film vinse 3 Oscar (9 nominations incluso Miglior Film) e 2 Golden Globe (Film e Regia).

 

Questo il commento di Cameron - ”Building upon the world we created with Avatar has been a rare and incredibly rewarding experience. In writing the new films, I’ve come to realize that Avatar’s world, story and characters have become even richer than I anticipated, and it became apparent that two films would not be enough to capture everything I wanted to put on screen. And to help me continue to expand this universe, I’m pleased to bring aboard Amanda, Rick, Shane and Josh — all writers I’ve long admired -­ to join me in completing the films screenplays.”
